Srinagar, Sept 16 (KNO): Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday chaired a meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior officers to review the status of Srinagar-Jammu national highway. In a post on X, Nitin Gadkari, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said despite relentless rains and a major hill slide, NHAI teams are working tirelessly to keep this key highway operational. He said that a 2-lane temporary diversion has been built, and traffic movement has resumed. Over a dozen excavators and 50+ earthmovers are deployed round the clock for clearing and repairs. “We are determined to restore this vital national highway to full strength at the earliest, ensuring safety and convenience for all road users,” he added. On Monday, CM Omar stated that he spoke to Nitin Gadkari regarding the situation along the Srinagar-Jammu highway and that some concrete steps will be taken within the next 24 hours to address this problem.
